Course
Description:
This
course is an opportunity to learn about training our bodies primarily
through running, competing to the best of one's ability, developing
a baseline knowledge of fitness and wellness with the intent of
becoming healthy through mind, body, and spirit. Cross country
is also an opportunity to build quality friendships, character,
a set of values, morals, and personal directives that can help
young men begin to understand and define themselves.

Running
Log (provided)
Grading:
Based on participation, attendance, completion of running log,
and assignments.
Participation:
You
must be willing to intensely participate in every aspect of practice
and meets. In other words, during practice you will be on time,
prepared, and looking for ways to improve both yourself, as well
as the team. 5:30am
practices will be Monday and Thursday once school starts. These
practices are MANDATORY. Our afternoon practices take place during
4 th block and may last until 3-3:30 daily. Concerning doctors
appointments and other business that may interrupt practice, notice
to the coach needs to be given and the runner is expected to make
up the workout on their own.
Expectations:
It
is my expectation that the runners will have a love for running,
their teammates, proper and appropriate behavior at all times
and especially when wearing the team name or uniform. We are representatives
of Bishop Kelley HS and its standards will be set and maintained.
Attendance/Tardy:
The
attendance and tardiness policy will follow the attendance and
tardiness policy as written in the Bishop Kelley Student Handbook.
90% attendance and zero late arrivals are expected. Beyond the
policies within the handbook, unexcused missed practices and late
arrivals will be handled within the team as well. If there is
a reason to miss, let me know well before hand.
Varsity:
Varsity
for each meet will primarily be determined by finishing with a
top 7 time in the preceding meet. However, as coach, I reserve
the right to make exceptions possibly involving issues like sickness,
injuries, poor attitude/work ethic, etc. All runners will participate
in each meet throughout the year. Those not running Varsity will
run JV with the same opportunity to rank for Varsity. Every meet
we go to will have a JV race except the Regional and State meets.
Each runner will be apprised of his situation on the team throughout
the season.
